A definite improvement from the first!
As always, the setting was perfect! I felt like I was in New Orleans along with everyone else. The characters were great and I really loved how secondary characters (such as Jared and Hailey) were fleshed out. I hope the author will continue to give us insight into their stories.
On to the main characters. Levi was a dreamy, swoon-worthy, all in one package. His one liners were hilarious and I definitely wouldn't mind a boyfriend as sweet and considerate as him. I also had to agree with Allie about the wings ; ) My only complaint, in regards to him, is that I sometimes felt he objectified Allie in regards of what her position in The Society meant for him, but maybe I was reading too much into that. Allie, on the other hand, was sometimes bit of a hit and miss for me. For must of the book, I really enjoyed her character. She was saucy, a good friend and (when things were good) had a great relationship with Levi. Their constant back and forth made me laugh. Yet, her constant rebuttal of Levi's efforts for getting back together got annoying towards the end. Also, I was disappointed in how Allie described her relationship with Levi to Toby and her mom. She honestly made it seem like if the whole mate thing wasn't an issue, she might consider breaking things off with Levi. I wished she would have defended her relationship with him more, because honestly, Levi was too sweet
That twist at the end, though rushed, has me wanting to pick up the next book...soon. I hope I'm the next one we'll see more of the dynamics of the paranormal aspect, but all in all, this book was really good; definitely romantic!
